After a good hearty Cumbrian breakfast we had decided which walk we were going to attempt. We had done the Grizedale Valley before so we were doing it with a couple of additions. We set off to Glenridding and then took the path up to Lanty's Tarn, this was the first addition. On reaching the Tarn which was a bit of a climb to reach we turned right through a small wood eventually reaching our path in the valley. It was a bit of a grey day with rain threatening but so far ok. We set off up the valley and when we reached the end it started to rain. We had met a couple from the hotel and talked for a few minutes before we set off to cross the beck below us. This was the wettest part of the walk but we were soon through and picked up the path on the other side of the valley, we passed through a couple of farm yards before reaching the point where we were taking another path up to Hagg's Beck. The rain had stopped by now so we sat on a boulder and had lunch. Now it was up the path behind the barn and after a short sharp climb we picked up our next path, we followed this for nearly a mile before reaching Hagg's Beck where there were stepping stones to assist in crossing. On we went and in a short while the path took us down into the grounds of the hotel, that was it nearly six miles and dry at the finish. Now for a beer.
Lanty's Tarn we think it was an old reservoir as one end is dammed
Hagg's Beck, we don't know how it got its name
First a pint
Then a very nice dinner
